I figured that it was some bloatware that came attached with the driver and wasn't deselected, but after downloading and installing the software from Epson, I realized I was never even asked about additional programs being installed. Even the user informed me that I was doing everything exactly as he had done. I brought the machine to the desktop and went to Epson's website for their driver.

Even Action Center reports an incorrect driver is installed. It appears in the Printers and Devices category, but no functionality.
